Dear Golf Enthusiasts: Driving 4 Life (D4L) is the America ’s premier fundraising campaign supporting ALS research through the game of golf. Over the past 4 years, we have raised nearly $6.5 million for ALS research. As you know I have helped set this up to generate funds for research to cure this horrible, incurable disease that Bruce had. The ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALSTDI) is the primary beneficiary of the funds raised through D4L and is regarded as the top research facility for the disease. Recently the team of scientists completed the entire mapping of the ALS disease progression in the mouse and human. This critical information will help scientists break the disease down to the protein level and learn exactly what is causing ALS. Ideally, this should yield new viable drug targets and will take us one step closer to a cure! We invite you to share your passion for golf by supporting our newest initiative, the Jimmy C & Justice 4 ALS D4L Invitational on Monday November 3, 2008 at TPC Summerlin. These are two remarkable men that one, Jim Culveyhouse has been made Oregon State spokesperson for MDA-ALS Research Division for his grass roots campaign to raise money and has been honored just recently nationally and had May 13, 2008 proclaimed “Jim Culveyhouse Day” by the National MDA-ALS Organization. His website is www.jimculveyhouse.com and is educational, informational and fun too. The other, Mike Justice, passed away in July of 2006. He was a nationally recognized environmental extremely well respected engineer, consultant, family man and community leader. The website for his site is www.mikejusticefund.org The day will be a great day of fun, and golf on one of the best courses in the West – TPC Summerlin where the PGA pros will be playing The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children on October 16 through the 19th. The day includes breakfast, the round of golf, carts, all beverages on the course, various contests and raffles throughout the course are as large in scale as I have seen offered. After the event there will be a post golf event with heavy appetizers and an open bar with some unbelievable one of kind items to bid on in a silent and oral auction. This is going to be the class golf fundraising event of the year in Las Vegas as it should be for a cause that I am deeply committed to.
